Certificate in Pipe Band Musicianship – Introduction

The Certificate in Pipe Band Musicianship (CPBM) is The RSPBA’s highest internal qualification and considers the pipe band as a complete entity.

The RSPBA CPBM qualification is offered in 2 parts:

Certificate in Pipe Band Musicianship Part 1

Certificate in Pipe Band Musicianship Part 2

Aim:

The aim of the CPBM is to develop the theoretical knowledge and performance skills of candidates who wish to further enhance their understanding of the pipe band ensemble. The course is suitable for individuals who aspire to be Pipe Majors or Lead Drummers, or existing Pipe Majors / Lead Drummers who wish to take their skills to a higher level. The qualification meets one of the requirements for applicants who wish to be considered for the role of Adjudicator.

The CPBM is a multi – faceted study programme that engages candidates in all aspects of development strategies that they may encounter in their involvement within a Pipe Band environment.

The programme is delivered through a range of formats including lectures, demonstrations, guest speakers, practical performances and supported online assignments.

On successful completion of Parts 1 and 2 of the CPBM, candidates also receive The RSBPA Approved Instructor Certificate and the PDQB Tutor Certificate.
